I love working in healthcare. In fact, I had already been in the industry for 11 years as a CNA and I wanted to be able to bring positive changes to long-term care facilities. I also made a promise to my mother before she passed to further my education which is another reason why I decided to return to Herzing.
It was a challenge earning my degree since my father was very sick during my journey. I was still attending school while caring for him, and he always made me promise to him that I would finish. This was the same promise I made my mother, so I pushed forward.
Throughout this, Herzing faculty and staff really helped me stay focused. If I was overwhelmed, I knew I could take some time for myself and reach out to professors or advisors. They were always there to help me every step of the way.
My father passed away before he could see me graduate, but I know that he and my mother are proud of me for keeping my promise to them. After graduation, I may return for my LPN or my Bachelor’s of Science in Healthcare Administration. Either way, I’m excited for what comes next.
